Welcome to our website! Hilltoppers is the name of our senior adult ministry, for those age fifty and older - we are not "over the hill," we're on top of it! We are an active, dynamic fellowship who enjoy the benefits of Christian community. Our hope is to provide a variety of activities that will appeal to all ends of the senior adult age spectrum. There are no membership fees, and you may attend as many or as few activities as you wish. New brochures outlining our upcoming trips and holiday luncheons are now available at the Welcome Center near the Sanctuary, and additional activities are listed in the Tidings newsletter. We hope you will join us!

A ministry by, with and for senior adults that includes,

spiritual growth, education, training, service, and fellowship.

The Hilltoppers group recognizes that we are called by God

to be faithful Christian disciples, willing to share our faith wisdom, and knowledge with persons of every age and stage in life. As older adults, we have much to teach, much to learn, and are interdependent upon persons of all ages. We recognize aging as a natural progression in life and a part of Gods Good Gift to Life.

The Hilltoppers group lifts up the needs and concerns of older adults and is committed to providing a church environment where the wisdom, skills, experience, and faith of midlife and older adults is developed and fully utilized.

MARCH 4 (FRIDAY)

Evelyn Burrow Museum

Hanceville, AL

We will leave the church at 8:00 a.m. and travel to the Evelyn Burrow Museum. The Burrow Museum houses a $9.5 million dollar collection donated to Wallace State Community College by Evelyn Burrow of Cullman, Alabama.  Included in the museum are more than 5,000 pieces from around the world, acquired over 65 years by Burrow and her late husband, Ottis.  This is one of the finest collections of its kind in the world today. Object d'art in the museum date as far back as the 1600s.  Other pieces are so rare they are priceless.  The museum boasts one of the largest known collections of horse sculptures in existence (inspired by the Burrows' Tennessee Walker, Ebony's Leading Lady - a 1965 World Champion).

Please make advance reservations in the Sunday school classes or outside Wesley Fellowship Hall.  Cost to be determined closer to the date of the trip.

APRIL 15 (FRIDAY)

Burritt on the Mountain, Huntsville, AL

Lunch at Grandmother's House, Owens Cross Roads, AL

We will leave the church at 8:30 a.m. for Huntsville.  Situated on a magnificent 167-acre site high above the city of Huntsville, Burritt on the Mountain is the location of the Burritt Mansion, the home of Dr. William Burritt, a physician and inventor, whose estate created the museum, that bears his name.  See two rooms of original furnishings accompanying exhibition galleries representing regional and natural history including collections of prehistoric Indian artifacts, rocks, and minerals, 19th century furnishings, and Dr. Burritt's personal and professional artifacts.  After touring Burritt, we will head to Grandmother's House for lunch.  Known for its "gourmet country cooking," Grandmother's House was built by the current owner's grandparents, George and Vinnie Craft, circa 1928.  The original house was preserved as much as possible with a modern kitchen added to the rear of the house. It is furnished with antiques that have been in her family for many yuears and other items of interest that have been collected and are displayed in the hallways and dining areas.  Please make advance reservations in your Sunday school class or in the Wesley Fellowship Hall. Cost to be determined closer to the date of the trip.
