Global Missions

 

Support for Missionaries

We support Peter and Estella Hudy and their missionary work in Bolivia. Besides our financial commitment to them through the United Methodist church, we also send work teams to Bolivia on a regular basis to assist them with building and special projects. Church members contribute to special needs of members of the community the Hudys serve – donations of school supplies, books, and other items are sent to the Hudys regularly. This year, FUMC also sent $1000 to Lewis Archer, a United Methodist missionary to Kenya. We also support Tim and Carol Crawford at the Red Bird Mission in Kentucky.



Conference Apportionments

First United Methodist of Decatur consistently pays 100% of their North Alabama

Conference apportionments. These funds go to support a number of missions including world service and conference benevolences, the Ministerial Education Fund, the Black College Fund, Methodist Homes for the Aging, and the United Methodist Children's Home among others.



African Team Ministries

Each spring, First United Methodist hosts a jewelry and craft sale to benefit African Team Ministries. The proceeds of this sale go to educate children and ministerial students in Kenya as well as support local crafts people.
