4th/5th Grade Retreat

Children's retreats are important for so many reasons. We live in a noisy, busy world and retreats offer children a chance to learn about God in a more peaceful setting. Each of our retreats has a theme and a lesson. This is a time where children can experience God and learn to know him on more of an intimate level. However, we still have time to have loads of fun, eat s’mores, and take a hike. Our retreats are offered to our 4th and 5th graders.
Trunk or Treat

Everyone has fun at Trunk or Treat!! This is for our nursery through 5th grade. The members of the church decorate the trunks of their cars and then wait to treat a child with candy. After Trunk or Treat, everyone enjoys dinner and the games offered in our youth's Fall Festival. This is a fun event for the whole family!
Easter Egg Hunt
Our Easter Egg Hunt is packed full of good food, fun, and of course eggs! The whole church is invited for a potluck meal before children head out for the big hunt. We also have a blow-up slide, moonwalk, and even a pinata!
Super Soaker Sunday
So what better way to start of the summer than to celebrate with water games and the largest super soaker in Decatur?! Children are invited to enjoy fun and fellowship while they get drenched from head to toe.
Pajama Party
This is offered to our nursery through 5th grade during the month of December. Parents are given the chance to Christmas shop while the kids are fed dinner, play games, make crafts, watch movies, and have a fun guest.
Star Polisher Program
This is a program that begins on the first day of the Advent season for children in Kindergarten through the 5th grade. Our senior citizens and other adult classes take one child and pray for the child through the Advent season. The adults are also asked to send an anonymous card to the child on certain designated dates simply stating to the child that they are in their prayers. This person, the star polisher, remains anonymous to the child until our Star Search Breakfast in January. Each Star Polisher wears the picture of the child for whom he or she has been praying and the child searches amongst the photos to find the right Star Polisher, just like the Kings who followed the star in search of Baby Jesus. The child and Star Polisher then exchange Christmas ornaments. Each one of our children is a little star and the more we polish them, the brighter they will shine for Jesus.
These are just a few of our special events. Check our church newsletter and/or bulletin board for information on all upcoming events. We hope your kids will join us!
