Hilltoppers (Senior Adult Ministry)
Hilltoppers is a Christian fellowship group for older adults age 50 and over. The mission of Hilltoppers is to explore, develop, and implement programs which will enhance the quality of life for older adults. There are no membership fees and members may attend as many or as few activities as they wish. Activities include day trips, overnight trips, and weekend getaways. Programs are provided for both active retirees and those with a more sedentary lifestyle. The best way to learn about us is to join us!
United Methodist Women
UMW is the women’s mission arm of the United Methodist Church at home and abroad whose purpose is to know Christ and make Him known throughout the world. Open to women of all ages, the general meeting is held the first Monday of each moth in the fellowship hall. Small groups, called circles, meet on the second Monday and Tuesday of the month.
Mission Opportunities through the UMW
Gifts to missions through pledges, special mission recognition in honor of a birthday, new baby, anniversary, and the like.
Building and maintenance of Camp Sumatanga
We save labels to help purchase educational items for the Red Bird Mission in Kentucky.
Donations for the purchase of Christmas gifts for the children of the Sand Mountain Parish.
Cookie trays for the home bound.
Scholarships to students.
Visitation of those confined to health care facilities.
Meals provided to families where death has occurred.
Contribute to many worthy projects such as: UMRA, Tennessee Valley Outreach, Neighborhood Christian Center, Schools in Bolivia and Mozambique.
Men’s Breakfast
Held on the second Sunday morning of each month, this group is open to all the men of the church. Breakfast is provided along with time for fellowship and sharing. Meeting time is 7:30-8:30 A.M.
Study Opportunities Offered Periodically
Disciple Bible Study
Disciple Bible Study is an intensive Bible study which requires participants to study 30 minutes a day and attend a weekly two-hour group meeting.
Disciple I is a 34-week intensive study of the Old and New Testaments. This course must be completed before participants may take the other Disciple courses, but once it is has been completed, you may take any of the other courses in any order.
Disciple II is a 32-week study for the graduates of Disciple I centering on Genesis-Exodus and Luke-Acts.
Disciple III concentrates on the Prophets and writings of Paul in a 32-week study.
Disciple IV covers the writings portion of the Hebrew Canon as well as the New Testament books of the Gospel of John: 1, 2 and 3 John; James; Jude; and Revelation.
Jesus in the Gospels
Jesus in the Gospels is the first study in a line of projected studies different from, but also related in some ways to, Disciple Bible study. It focuses on the portraits of Jesus found in the four Gospels. This 30-week study includes daily study and journaling and a weekly two-and-a-half hour group meeting. Completion of Disciple I is required before taking this course. Participants will grow increasingly alert to the view of Jesus presented in each Gospel.
Spiritual Gifts Survey
This is a short-term class designed to build confidence and commitment among adults as they discover their own unique gifts and talents for service in Christ’s church. This course is usually offered before our Members in Ministry Lay Involvement campaign.
