Welcome to the web site for the children's ministries at First United Methodist Church in Decatur, Alabama.  We are glad that you stopped by to see what we have going on at First Church.  Deuteronomy 6:5-7a "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.  These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children."  Here at First Church we impress upon the children the Love of God.  We believe in our mission statement, "Growing in Christ, Sharing God's Love." It is important that the children feel the love and support of God, family, and church family.  Our children's spiritual development is important to us.  As someone once told me, you cannot have too many people loving your child.  It takes a community to raise children and as you take a moment to look around our website, you will see the community of God at work. As the French philosopher Pierre Teilhard de Chardin reminds us: "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience.  We are spiritual beings having a human experience."
